Product Overview & Application Area
The GEMA MDC 230 heating module 2.0 kW is an electric auxiliary heating module for central heating systems and is integrated into the heating circuit as an additional heat source. It is suitable for supporting the heating of heating water when an existing primary heat source is to be supplemented, frost protection is to be supported, or electrical energy is to be specifically converted into heat.
The bundle combines the MDC 230 heating module with a 2.0 kW electric heating cartridge for operation at 230 V. This version offers a slightly higher electric auxiliary output than the 1.5 kW variant and is suitable for applications where a moderate auxiliary heating output is required in the heating circuit.
Technology & Equipment
The MDC 230 is designed as an electric heating module for central heating systems. The steel tank is made of raw steel on the inside, powder-coated on the outside, and provided with 50 mm thick polyurethane foam thermal insulation. The outer cladding is made of plastic, and the lid is made of ABS plastic.
The 2.0 kW heating cartridge included in the bundle operates with 230 V single-phase current. It features stepless temperature adjustment, a red indicator light for heating operation, and a non-self-resetting safety temperature limiter. The heating module is intended for use with water or a suitable glycol mixture up to a maximum concentration of 50 percent.
Everyday Benefits
The bundle offers a compact way to introduce additional electric heat directly into the heating circuit. This allows an existing heating system to be flexibly supported without requiring a separate heat generator with fuel storage.
The 2.0 kW version is suitable for applications where a manageable electric auxiliary output is sufficient, but more reserve is desired than with the smaller 1.5 kW variant. In conjunction with proper hydraulic integration and suitable control, the heating module can also be used for simple auxiliary heating, frost protection, or surplus electricity concepts.
System Integration & Compatibility
The MDC 230 is integrated into the parallel heating circuit on the flow or return line of the main heat source. For proper operation, an additional circulation pump is required to ensure the necessary minimum flow rate through the heating module.
Integration can be carried out in open or closed central heating systems, provided the appropriate safety devices are in place. A safety valve with a suitable opening pressure as well as proper electrical protection and control connection must be taken into account on site.

Installation
The installation of the heating module, the hydraulic connection, and the electrical test must be carried out by a qualified professional. The MDC 230 is integrated into the heating circuit and may only be operated once the system has been completely filled, vented, and checked for leaks.
For the 2.0 kW version, a minimum flow rate of 114 l/h in the central heating system must be ensured. The additional circulation pump must be designed to work together with the heating cartridge and to reliably dissipate the heat from the module.
Notes
The heating module must not be operated dry. The safety valve, venting, minimum flow rate, electrical protection, and control connection must be checked before commissioning. No shut-off valves may be installed between the safety valve and the heating module.
When using photovoltaic surplus power, a suitable external controller or switching logic is required. The heating module itself does not replace system planning, heat load calculation, or proper electrical sizing.
