SUNEX FISH S4 Carbon buffer tank with 200 liters
The SUNEX FISH S4 Carbon is a compact buffer tank for storing and time-delayed provision of heating water. With a storage volume of 200 liters, it supports hydraulic decoupling between the heat generator and the heating circuit, which can enable more uniform system operation.
The standing tank is suitable for closed heating systems and, with appropriate hydraulic design, can be combined with heat pumps, solid fuel boilers, oil and gas heating systems, as well as electric heat generators. It is intended exclusively for heating water and must not be used as a drinking water, service water, or hot water tank.
Technology & equipment
The inner container is made of high-density polyethylene and is externally stabilized by a glass fiber reinforced composite material. The composite construction is corrosion-resistant and does not require the corrosion protection via a magnesium anode that is typical for classic steel tanks.
Approximately 30 millimeters of thermal insulation made of rigid PU foam reduces heat loss to the surroundings. The hydraulic connections and the receptacles for temperature sensors are centrally arranged on the top. This allows the tank to be integrated into the system hydraulics in a clear manner even in confined spaces.
Everyday benefits
With a dead weight of only 33 kilograms, the composite buffer tank is easier to transport and position at the installation site than many comparable steel tanks. However, the low weight does not exempt it from being set up securely on a level and sufficiently load-bearing surface.
Energy efficiency class B and a standby heat loss of 58 watts support controlled heat storage. Since the tank is designed without an integrated heat exchanger, its function remains clearly focused on the direct buffering of heating water within the hydraulic system.
System integration & compatibility
The FISH S4 Carbon can be used between a heat generator and one or more heating circuits. Typical applications include hydraulic decoupling, increasing the available system volume, and temporal buffering of generated heat.
The actual suitability for a specific heat pump, boiler, or multi-circuit system depends on flow rate, output, temperature range, control, and the hydraulic system concept. This version does not have an integrated solar heat exchanger for direct solar thermal integration.

Installation
The storage tank must be installed exclusively in an upright, vertical position. The surface must be level, permanently dry, and designed to support the operating weight of the completely filled tank. Pipe connections must be made without tension and supported in such a way that no tensile, compressive, or bending forces are transmitted to the composite container and its connections.
Hydraulic integration, pressure testing, filling, venting, and commissioning must be carried out by a qualified heating contractor. The safety valve, diaphragm expansion vessel, venting, drainage, and measuring and control components must be designed according to the specific system.
Notes
The permissible operating pressure of 6 bar and the maximum operating temperature of 75 °C must not be exceeded. Before installation and material ordering, the connection design, connection dimensions, and specific product configuration must be checked on the delivered storage tank, on the nameplate, and using the current manufacturer documentation.
The storage tank must not be mechanically processed, drilled, or exposed to open flames. If visible cracks, deformation, or leaks are present, the system must not be put into operation.
